my mate has a really old pc with a voodoo 3 in it (yes thats right - a voodoo 3!!)
he bought a 19" widecreen monitor today but there isn't an option to have a resolution of 1440x900 (i think thats right) - i've only been told this over the phone, i haven't actually seen the pc yet.
he only has vanilla xp installed, no service packs, and doesn't have the internet yet - he's getting it next week.

so any suggestions?
bit tricky to find drivers for such an old card. How about a program to use custom resolutions (powerstrip rings a bell)?

cheers

Desktop Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Monitor -> Untick 'Hide modes this monitor cannot display', go back to Desktop Properties and attempt to set resolution again. (Make sure it's set to 60Hz as well)

If that doesn't work he's going to need new video drivers/new card.

just rang him up and tried that but no, the correct resolution still isn't in the options - thanks anyway.

i think we will leave it till next week when he gets the internet and can update his windows and hopefully find some newer drivers.

i might be back then ;)

i wouldn't expect any 'updates' for the voodoo3. perhaps some hacked and mashed together drivers to get dx9 compatibility. even then i would think it would only standard resolutions in windows.

i no i had that problem when i had a voodoo5 trying to get quake3 to run in widescreen. however that was a good few years ago mind. so iam not sure if they would have added bits and bobs to the drivers (and i mean those hacked and edited 1s).

sorry couldn't be more help tho :/
