1024x768

Cos Im thinking about upgrading my viewsonic 19" to a sammy 22" monitor. I play some games in 1024x768, so tht res on a widescreen will look strange with the sides cut off left and right. So whats the equivalent to 1024x768 in widescreen resolution??

I imagine they look pretty bloody awful, as they'll either be scaled up (and will look really bad) or it'll just be a small box.

Is that a real res? ;) I suppose 1280*800 is pretty close although it's 30% more pixels. Should look decent on a 22" when gaming. I've played plenty of games at 1280*800 on my Dell 2007WFP (1680*1050) and while it's a little softer than native res and the pixels are bigger, it still looks ok. Scaling has improved quite a bit over the years.

You have to look really closely to see the quality loss when playing games in 1024x768 on my viewsonic 19" and its comming up to 3yrs old now.

my monitor and gfx card seem to think so

looks like a POS on a 20" though, so it'll look god awful on a 22". I think using my scrren like that for extended periods would actualy make me as blind as a bat.... i've set that res temporarily, and my eyes are watering just looking at the screen for a few minutes!

I mean scaling a res that small up to 22" res will look really a lot worse.

Okeydokey, it does exist :D

1280*800 doesn't look too bad on my 20" though, especially for gaming, so I reckon the OP gives that a spin when he gets his 22".
