I was just thinking, say if i played far cry on a 19inch monitor. And then i played it on a 24 inch or 21 inch widescreen, would the game be stretched. If not, how would it work as wouldnt it have to be stretched?

Hi

It does not stretch the image like it would if you viewed 16:9 movie full screen, on the video game you see more left and right, your viewing is expanded.

Here is an example:

Thats if you run it on the native res or a ws res.

If you run it at the same res as your standard monitor, for example 1024x768 or 1280x1024 then your monitor will do one of two things (or at least the monitors I've had do).
You can run it at it's native 4:3 ratio in which case you'll have unused space to the left and right (and possibly above and below if your running 1024x768) or your monitor can can streach the image to cover the whole screen (Similiar to how a TV does it but much better results as your monitor isn't limited to 800x600 like your TV (non HD that is))
