what would you prefare to game on? widescreen just looks good/better IF the game supports it. more games are coming out widescreen supported by there are classics such as the Max Paynes which dont support widescreen and just look poo!

discuss...

If you have a big screen (20"+) then widescreen, otherwise you want to screen as square as possible to maximise object size ingame...IMO at least. A good widescreen (or graphics card) will let you preserve aspect ratio with vertical borders anyhow, so there's no need to compromise.

There are fixes for most games that don't natively support widescreen. Personally, I wouldn't go back to 4:3.

nvr played on widescreen myself - will do when/if my crt monitor READ THE FAQ up :(

CRT 22" - win's for me right now

dont think TFT's cut it just yet

1920x1200 Widescreen is the future! I couldn't go back to using a normal/small screen on my PC again :)

been playing 1680x1050 for a while now, it looks awesome in games but my only real problem is the lack of games that actually support it, its pretty sad how stuff like BF2 wont let you use it without stretching it yourself.

widescreengaming forums can put up a fix for most games though so it isnt all bad.

I used to dislike the idea of widescreen, and LCD in general, until I decided that I needed more desk space and ditched my 21" CRT (1600x1200) for a 19" LCD (1440x900.) People would say that I'm mad for doing that but, aside from it being stupidly cheap when I bought it, the actual size of the screen isn't all that different in my opinion and games look great even at the lower res (which is win-win as it also means I won't need to upgrade my graphics so often.)

I will probably pick up a slightly bigger monitor sometime next year though, not because I'm unhappy with this one, but because the greed factor kicks in and you just want "more, more, more!" I am thinking that a 24" widescreen with 1920x1200 resolution would be nice, but expensive as hell.

My only complaint, as I imagine is the case with most widescreen users, is that it's a pain to play games with no native widescreen support. I am really glad that Microsoft have made native widescreen support one of the criteria for their "Games For Windows" certification, because more companies will no doubt get into the swing of things.

Fo' Shizzle! I've got a Dell2405 here and at 6800GT. Although with some of the latest games my card is starting to hold me back it's still an experience playing on a 24" Widescreen!

Agreed :)

Makes it really hard to use a 17" now. And that's what I have to use in my uni tutorials :(

im still using my ever faithful NEC 17" TFT @ 1280x1024, though the thought of a nice big widescreen has been tempting me a few times now, i just cant afford it. this monitor is perfectly adequate till the pixels go anyway.

Using 3dsmax on a 15" would just be plain stupid :o :p
I'm taking my screen home over xmas, since the screens in my house are an old 15" tft, a very old 15"CRT, and a 11" TFT.
Not nice :p

I have a 20" widescreen and i think its much better than my old 19" 4:3 crt.

+ you get a better FoV in CSS ;)

I find WS a lot nicer for gaming and I also like the fact that documents can be viewed side by side and web pages viewed without side scrolling.

Would only ditch my 20.1" Widescreen LCD for something bigger but still 16:10 ratio.

Widescreen gaming is for the win :)

well these machines do have 3dsmax on them...like hell would i use those machines to render anything...

4:3 for me, I can only really see clearly out of one eye at a time and I probably couldn't keep track of the edges on a big widescreen monitor.

Just waiting for that perfect 22inch or 24inch TFT with full HD support and HDMI/HDCP support ;)

Does the newer games like BF2142 have that widescreen support?
