I'm currently running my E6600 at 3.2 on a P5B (non-deluxe). I've also got an 805D running on a rev304 BadAxe (will explain why in a moment), but am thinking of putting the C2D back on it.

The BadAxe... well, initially I bought it for the C2D chip. Seemed a flakey kind of board at a BIOS level, sometimes hanging when you save options etc, but in Windows was always 100% stable. Also seemed to overclock ok, and got decent results with both an E6300 and E6600 using the 1066 and 1333 straps. Sry, should have mentioned the RAM is the gskill hz set.

Anyway after tinkering with the overclocking on the BadAxe, suddenly it just disappeared. What I mean by that is, I can set all the overclocking options in the BIOS, on the POST screen it would look overclocked, but Windows (XP SP2) would only ever see it as stock (incl volts). Windows couldnt see ANY of the overclocked settings. Wierd as hell.... So I put everything back to stock settings in the BIOS, and did a number of boots alternating between 1066 and 1333 straps, and out of a load of testing it ONCE picked up the 1333 strap in Windows and set the processor speed accordingly. Incidently, on the one occasion when this worked, I rebooted Windows and it was back to 2.4GHz. Very frustrating.

Sooo, summats gone wrong and the board needs to be RMAd, I thought. Wasnt bought from OCuk, and had to deal direct with Intel. To cut a long story short, they refused to let me RMA the board, insisting that "even though the options are there in the BIOS, if you use them you invalidate the 3yr warranty". Not happy obviously, but as the board is 100% stable at stock I figured I'd put it in my Linux box with an 805D, and it's been working perfectly for a month or two now.

Well I just got an extra graphics card (xfire master) to go with my x1900xtx, and fancied testing out the xfire goodness, which means I'll have to use the BadAxe again. Don't really want to lose my overclock though, so wondered if anyone had seen a similar problem before. Very wierd one I know, and still has me stumped tbh.

Should also mention that I tried all the different BIOS revisions around for the 304 (tho not updated in last 6wks or so). Not tried to oc the 805D on it, as it's using stock cooler = v.hot.

Would really appreciate any comments / advice.
