Wierd hardware problem

I've been having a problem with either my gfx card or sound card (7800gt and m-audio 5.1). I usually have a lot of jacks plugged into the sound card, but recently if I want to change them while pc is running I get a bluescreen and have to restart.

If I then disconnect all of the jacks from the sound card and boot up again my tft gets no signal from the gfx card, and I have to power off again and plug a few in before it will work.

Any ideas where this could stem from?

do you have onboard sound aswell? make sure it is disabled or try taking your card out and using the onboard... id say it was more s/card that gpu
