****** DO NOT READ IF YOUR ALLERGIC TO WALLS OF TEXT ******

Been running my Opteron 170 @ 2.8Ghz now for the best part of a year, tempreture wise its fine, idle of 26-28c, loads of 45-50c, recently though during some games my system has just suddenly shut down, no warnings, error messages nothing just turns itself off.

So I went into my bios and reset everything to stock speeds, voltages etc so the system was now running at 2Ghz, HT was at its default 1Ghz and memory back to its normal 200Mhz instead of my Overclocked settings which are 2.8Ghz, 311x3 HT and 215Mhz for memory, which is DDR1 incase anyone is wondering.

Anyway after resetting everything to default I saved the settings and attempted to boot up as normal, machine posted fine, got past the initial post screen then got to the windows is loading screen. ERROR!, windows is now throwing error messages left right and centre saying xxxx is corrupted please insert windows disc or consult network administrator.

So i reset the machine popped in my windows vista dvd and let it boot via dvd, after the initial loading screen, ERROR!, exactly the same problem again, xxxx file is corrupted.

I seriously hope this can be resolved as I plan on upgrading to Q6600, 4Gb tomorrow when I get paid with the eventual goal of selling my current opteron system (as i have spare gfx card, 2gb memory, case, psu etc, only need to buy new hdd for it), but if it suffers from major stability problems at stock speeds I wont be able to as im going to be using my WC setup for my Q6600.

Anyway any insight into this problem would be incredibly helpful.

Memory is fine at overclocked settings, could it possibly be that my normal motherboard settings has on board audio, 1 of the sata controllers, fire wire etc all disabled, and by using default settings windows crapped out and thaught I had changed hardware.
