i bought a Sony 8GB memory stick from the bay.

basically the problem with it is that when i plug the usb key in, my computer then freezes, it eventually unfreezes and when i try to select the key on my computer it takes ages to select it, and the same sort of thing happens when i try to select, delete or open files on the usb stick.

that i can actually live with but its this which i cant, i transferd a notepad file on there, which contained 16 characters, when i plugged it into my laptop all the characters in the word document turnd into 0's. i then transferred 3albums onto it, all of which were contained in 1 folder. when i plugged it into my lapop it changed each file into a folder and each folder name into 0's.

i tried deleting it but the computer says that the data is corrupted and unreadable.

has this ever happened to anyone else?

Have you formatted the drive (and maybe partitioned etc) to check it's actually an 8gb one?
stupid question but how do i format it?

when you select the device on my computer the info on the left side panel says its an 8gb one
