Hi, recently moved house and pc is is upstairs so decided to use a WiFi adapter.
I found an old linksys dual band adapter. It's N and not AC. I cannot download the drivers as there are none for Windows 10 so just using the drivers windows installed. I think I'm connected via 5ghz but only getting about 2-5mb but I expected to get a bit more as my virgin is 200mbit. Is this due to the drivers or because its not ac?
I've ordered a new a ac600 adapter anyway so I'm hoping this will help.

Thanks

So you posted the make and model number of the new adapter you ordered, but didn’t give us any useful details about the one you have and are asking about? Do you mean MB or mbit? Just 5MB/s is over 40Mbit, and on a product that’s likely to be 150-300Mbit max under ideal conditions and not being dragged down by a slow IoT device killing your speeds, that’s not that unreasonable. 5Ghz has lower penetration than 2.4Ghz, what you have ordered may not actually improve things, that said if it’s only floorboards and you haven’t got something like foul lines insulation, then it’ll likely be fine.
