WiFi booster oddity

I have used a variety of WiFi boosters, repeaters, etc. (please don't shout at me) and they all seem to have this inherent issue whereby the Internet just "feels" slower. The download speed is fine, sites just load slower, it's a strange thing. I'd say it's an MTU issue but I've tried tweaking that and no dice.

Is this just an inherent flaw in using a WiFi repeater? Even when cabled up to the repeater the Internet feels slower.

What about latency? From the boosters/repeaters I've tested, they always add a fair bit of latency for me, average about ~3ms compared to the <1ms directly to the router.

Many boosters can't send and receive at the same time so you end up with a relay race style effort, increasing latency. Better off with a homeplugs setup with WAP on one end IMO.
