Hi basically I have a linksys wireless router with adsl, my pc is wired. The downstairs pc and a laptop/ps3 connect via wireless.

I currently have WPA as my security method, however my little sis has a nintendo ds which doesnt support WPA it only supports WEP.

So now im wondering do I compromise my net security just so my sis can play with her ds online?

Is WPA that much better then WEP?

WEP is crackable, yes

But you need a couple of wifi adapters, software etc
no one will bother, i'm sure.
After all, the vast majority of routers still use WEP (as it's a factory default)

Be a nice brother and put WEP on

Even though WEP is easily crackable its still better than nothing, Leave it on as a visual deterant for anyone looking to piggy back on your network.

If your going to leave WEP on, set it as 256-bit. it will be still crackable, but would take the cracker a lot longer, problem with 64bit it crackable in 30seconds, ive cracked a few around here within a 1min, so use 256 bit where availble.

Does MAC filtering help a little towards making it more difficult for people to hack WEP?
