Hey guys

A friend's brought a laptop to me because he can't get the WiFi working. They don't have the recovery disks, so he'd tried putting an old copy of vista on it rather than the win7 it came with and the WiFi stopped working. I've put windows 7 back on but windows can't find the WiFi drivers.

I've tried installing the chipset and LAN drivers off the manufacturer's website but to no avail - and I can't tell what specific device it is so I can't download any drivers.

So, does anyone have any ways to find what device it is? Or even happen to know this one? If not, is there a list of manufacturers? I'll just try different ones until I hit a winner.

Thanks

I'd pop the bottom of the laptop off to see what model is printed on the wifi card.

For some reason that hadn't occurred to me, but I can't get to the WiFi card without some major surgery so this is a backup option atm.

You could try running this, it will tell you everything that is on the laptop.

Thanks, I'll take a look

Edit: Doesn't seem to have come up with anything useful: here are the communications and "other devices" sections, nothing else seems to at all relate.
