I've just moved home and I'm struggling with the WiFi signal in the living room. The router is on the other side of the house and I can't easily move it. The room the router is in has an ethernet cable running to the living room though, so that's fine for my devices which have an ethernet cable, but I've still got a problem with wireless devices.
I want to extend the existing WiFi name, not create a separate network. I believe I should be able to achieve this with a WiFi extender that supports ethernet backhaul. I'm struggling to work out what products would suit my needs though. I thought the TP-link RE450 would do the trick, but by the sound of it it doesn't support ethernet backhaul; the ethernet port on the device is to send the signal onwards rather than 'get' the signal from the router (although I could be wrong).
I don't want to spend much (<£50), as I'm going to have building work done in future and will redo cabling throughout the house, so don't want to drop £££'s on a fancy mesh setup that I might not need in future. Is anyone able to suggest a product that might do the trick?
