Strange one this.

My sisters just got a laptop with Wifi (dont know make/model yet so sorry :p), and it just won't find her network, shes got her PC connected to a Belkin Wireless G router btw, now ive checked the Broadcast SSID thinking it could be that (talked her over where to find all that over msn, and she sent me pics so i could see :D), but thats being broadcast, so i just don't know why her laptop doesn't pick it up, yet it will pick up her next door neighbours connection, and any others around there fine, but obviously cant connect to them as they are protected, so the laptops wifi must be on and working fine, and also my nephews ipod will find her network with no trouble at all, so anyone have a clue why the laptop can't find it.

I also know the Laptops running Vista, and her PC is on XP pro.

Thanks. :)

sorry are you trying to connect the laptop to the pc or to the router?

If its the router then do it manually.

got to start, connect to, then set up a connection or network, then manually connect to a wireless network, and type in all the details EXACTLY. I had a similar problem

Yeah Router, and what EXACT details do you mean, im a noob at this. :p

Yeah it is encrypted well it says TKIP for the encryption technique.

Thanks for the screenie, ill give that a whirl when i pop over on Friday. :)

Right well this is odd :p, ive talked her through all the above, it says it was succesfully added, then it goes to do a search, but still her network does not come up.

Now that her network has been added, how can she connect to it ?

Any ideas. :p

Right getting somewhere now, the cahnnel worked, its now found, but when trying to connect, it says :-

'the settings saved on this laptop do not match the requirements of the network'

Does that mean, where the connection is set up manually (where you put the details in on the above screenshot), that some of those details are wrong

Thanks :)

so even though its saying the settings saved on this laptop do not match the requirements of the network, it should still connect after a short time.

Cheers ill give it a go, its bit hard trying to do this over MSN, as ive got to tell her what to do from here. :p

Btw, how do i delete the network so i can start again.

Well cheers for the help, its now connected :D, after she got the profiles deleted, i told her where to go as you said, the Network and Sharing Centre, Manage Wireless Networks, and in there she said was her Network and saying security Enabled or something, so she tried connecting that, and that one worked, so thanks again, and also thanks again to the others that helped. :)
