Hi,

I recently updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7, but am suffering WiFi Issues, whereby the connection drops out every 5-10mins with a restart being the only way to get it working again.

I've updated the driver for the WiFi device, no improvement.

Seen a few articles around VPN settings from previous windows installs causing issues, but the recommend solution of deleting a reg key doesn't work for me.

Anyone got any ideas?

Feels like a fresh install of Windows is the way to go, no idea how to do this having already upgraded...

Thanks

Downloading a copy of the ISO now, I was presented with two options - 'Upgrade this PC' or 'Create media for another PC' I picked the second as the laptop is already upgraded.

I assume I won't have any issues with losing my Windows 10 upgrade key or something along those lines when I format and reinstall ?

I was having connection issues as well like you and was ready to through my USB wireless adapter out the window. I had already tried the power options to no avail.

I went and checked which driver it was using and it was using the one provided by windows. I saw in the notes on the driver page that it said that it needed something else. So I went to my brand support page, and even though the driver was reported to be a year older I downloaded that (it was actually a win8.1 driver), and put that driver on instead of the windows version. Has worked perfectly ever since, not a single drop out.

Problem persisted in the end even after going back to the old Dell driver, clean install seems to have sorted and machine just feels so much more responsive and smooth.

Over the years, I've never yet done a OS 'upgrade' that's worked properly.
