Hi all,

I have just bought a new Buffalo wireless moden router, i have set it all up with almost np problems, however i can't get my laptop to connect to it.

The laptop make a connection via wifi with a good signal strength, however it is not being assigned an IP address from the router and is assigning a automatic private address to its self.

I have my Wii and DS both connected wireless with no problems and two wired computers connected.

I am using a netgear card in the laptop and i have also tried the usb wifi stick that came with the router, but have the same problem both times.

Any suggestions as to why my laptop is not being assigned an IP address ?.

Cheers

Sounds like you need to check the settings on the laptop itself, if the others are working then it must be something on the laptop thats stopping it.

PK!

Glad to hear it. what was wrong? Noting too expensive i hope!

PK!

Not sure if it was the router or the netgear software, but as soon as i used windows to manage my wireless connection it was assigned an IP address from the router.

Still not sure that the problem was, because i had the same problem with the Buffalo usb wifi stick and their software.
