Hi,

I have a Garden room approx 15 yards from the house and want to ensure the best broadband speeds into it to allow work and streaming. Currently on BT Broadband. What would be the most cost effective way of getting a steady signal into it?

Thanks

I raise you, Cat6 ;)

@gordano Is the power run done in conduit, or just buried armoured? Either way it'd be best if you can have a Cat6 run and stick an AP in the mancave. Especially if you're after a stable connection that can use all of your bandwidth. Tbh you could even then wire your devices up to make it more reliable.

Powerlines will be horrible. If you really don’t want to run a cable then Mikrotik Wireless Wire is the simplest option - you get a full 1GbE duplex link just like you ran a wire (hence the name).

This is the cheapest version - https://mikrotik.com/product/wireless_wire and that’s pretty good But it can drop off in extremely bad snowstorms so they also do this version - https://mikrotik.com/product/wireless_wire_cube which has a 300Mbps backup signal.

It’s great kit and perfect for this sort of thing. But you know in your heart of hearts you really should run a cable.
