What's my best options looking like for the below situation?
Networking isn't my tech forte. I'd like to see if I can obtain 60-75mb which some providers are offering (not guaranteeing)....

Part fiber (overhead into property) - one connection point inside.
Can't have another access point installed due to landlord.
Pretty much an internet blindspot with most providers sitting at average 40-60 ish Mb speed.

Is a 5G router or Dual-WAN router the answer or is it a case of asking current ISP if i can add another account to current connection?

Not just have a counter top access point meshed from the router wifi to it?
Or if you had to have a second connection, starlink?

Your conflating your terminology, are you wanting a faster internet connection or do you have a place in the house that's got bad wifi signal, from what you've wrote it sounds like both but its rather confusing.

Both as I have both issues. Property is basically outskirts of a Internet blackspot and inside signal varies depending on the room.

What do you mean by part fiber? Surely either you have a fibre connection to the property or not? Or do you mean Fibre To The Cabinet?

Who is your current provider?

Do you have a 5G signal at the property?

Starlink may be another option.

Its down as part fiber on the ISP checkers (networking isnt my forte) so i'm gonna assume fibre to cabinet.

5G signal is hit and miss inside but solid outside

Let's focus on your internet service first.

Fibre to the cabinet FTTC is typically 35 - 76 Mbs, so has the potential to get up to 75 Mbs, but only under optimum conditions. If your ISP offers it, a Dual WAN router solution would be able to increase your speeds by using two lines into the property.

For 5G connection, you can get an external aerial. Typical speeds are 150-200 Mbs, so it has the potential to be better. However, it all depends on signal strength, and I have a feeling 5G connections can be temperamental. Perhaps someone else can comment? If you have access to a 5G phone then it would be worth testing.

So are they also going to say no to external 5G aerial / router / starlink?

Is there one spot where its stable that you could put a 5G router e.g. in a window somewhere?

You can buy secondhand 5G routers but most of them are branded THREE/EE etc and have custom firmware that is quiet locked down and I don't think they get updates unless you are using the same network they are branded as even if they are unlocked and other SIMS work.

I'm using a 4G dongle and have had a lot of problems despite a 5 bar signal it depends on your local mast, congestion and your provider.

I tried SMARTY (Three) excellent signal and I got 100Mbps in the middle of the night but that dropped below 1Mbps during peak hours...

I picked up an MVNO on EE's network and that worked well but was too expensive after the initial offer expired.

Then I picked up MVNO SIMS for Vodafone (currently using Talk mobile) I only got 60Mbps but it was more stable and didn't have the speed drops that SMARTY did; however I've had a lot of mast faults causing outages, that seems to have stopped mostly now but the speed has dropped. Talkmobile have a 150Mbps cap on their unlimited SIM and have denied throttling me but its often only 15-30Mbps now, when I asked them to turn off the content filter within a few minutes my speed increased to a little under 80Mbps but its dropped again back to 15-30Mbps.

There are also people on THREE forum saying they get better speeds if they use a VPN so I think the Three / Vodafone merger has messed up 4G for me and I don't believe talkmobile when they say I'm not being throttled.

Based on my experience with 4G I would not want to take out a 12month+ SIM contract but there are people that report 1Gbps speeds on 5G, it might be worth you posting in the 5G thread if thats the route you decide to go down.

Do check your area to see if there are any alt nets i.e. I can get Youfibre (was BRSK) but they don't show up on the broadband comparison sites when I put my postcode in.
