Hello,

I often have a problem with setting up Wifi printers, how do you make windows XP find and detect printers in the Home network ?

For example I tried setting up a Canon Pixma MG5350 for a mate, but I cannot get the pc to detect the printer, the printer is connected to the wifi network ok, but when I go through the installation CD setup it says it cannot find it, and when I type the printers IP address in the browser it also doesn't want to connect to it.

What is the easiest way to get wifi printers detected in winxp ? The easy bit is getting the printer connected to the access point, but what then ? How do I get it into windows ?

This is the 3rd time I've been fighting with a wifi printer, and I can't remmeber how I did it before but it always took me ages to get it working.

Thanks in advance.

I was going to suggest the installation CD, but looks like that isnt working. So, does the Printer get a Valid IP and say its connected ok? Could try manually installing it as a local printer, but specify its IP address as the port.

It sounds like the printer doesn't have an IP if you can't access it via the browser. Can you ping it? Does the access point list the printer as client?

I'm not sure i'll try it, the access point was listing the printer but somehow couldn't connect to it in the browser from the pc. The wifi strength was rubbish though and maybe that was the problem, even though the printer said signal strength ''40%'' it was a hassle of connecting in the first place.
