Wifi Range Extender?

So I've recently made a PC, and I've put it in my room; problem occurred that our house is too big, and the wifi doesn't reach my room, so I was about to invest in a range extender, and realised that it would probably slow down my ping, making it impossible to play online games. So here are my questions:

1)Will the range extender make it so that I can't play online games?
2)If it is unplayable, are there any alternatives? So something that plugs into the router, not the wall, or something to plug into the PC to make it look further?

Thanks everybody in advance!:)

Do you not have Google? And click the link and find out how much they cost?! Haha

It is some clever technology that allows your home to be networked via your house's electrical mains while still using Ethernet. Essentially you have 2 plugs that go into a power outlet on the wall each within your home.

You use the 1st plug and connect it next to your broadband router, then attach an Ethernet cable from your router to the home plug. Then you use the 2nd plug and connect it next to your computer, wherever that may be in your home. Then use an Ethernet cable from your computer/laptop to the 2nd home plug.

No Wi-Fi required. Although your speeds will be affected on the age and quality of your home's internal wiring.

How old is your home and what internet speeds do you achieve currently? i.e. 150Mb with Virgin Media, 8Mb ADSL with Sky, etc.

Thanks though, I'll look at them now; can you post a link?

You can't link to competitors. :D

Either way I can see it's the TP Link 150Mb homeplugs, you can only get them and try. :)

I would go for the TP-Link PA411KIT plugs, they are fairly cheap at approx £24.

I use them myself with Plusnet Fibre and reach 55Mb (max I can get with my line) so have no loss of speed compared to Ethernet.
