WiFi router suggestions

Hi guys a friend of mine needs a new router to connect 2 desktops,xbox 360 and a new laptop too. He has no idea what to go for so your help would be great.

More importantly than what machines he's going to connect, what's he planning on attaching to the other side - cable, ADSL, other?
