Hi

We have a BT business hub at the pub where i live and i use the internet from there. Trouble is, even though the hub is only about 6 metres away along a corridor, the signal is terrible (2 bars on a good day out of 5). So i've resorted to fitting home plugs (Onn networks PL500), which i've got my xbox360 plugged into atm. Trouble is, i have 2 laptops, 2 tablets, 2 mobiles, a PC and a smart tv too which i'd like connected.

Would i be able to add another wifi router on this end of the home plugs, plug my tv and xbox wired into the hub then use the wifi for the other equipment?

If that's possible, what's the best cheap router to buy?

Thx

any router with a wan port should work fine.

just plug the home plug into the wan port on the new router and that should be that. its not an ideal set up but it would be the simplest.

While this works, this also places any devices connected to the second router into a different network. If OP wants all the devices to be on the same network, he needs to turn DHCP off and connect the ethernet cable to a LAN port instead of the WAN port.

well yeah but i thought thats probably a plus, i mean i assume the pub wifi is for patrons so hes hardly going to want to share his home network with all and sundry is he?

that sounds fine to me. All the above is mine and my partners personal stuff. So I don't mind it being on a seperate network as long as its all on the same. My tv, xbox and pc I want wired and the rest wireless. Now I just need to find a cheap router to sort it.

Oh derp. I didn't properly read the first post :p. Ignore my previous post then...

I'm using this one as a second router and it works fine. You will need to spend more if you want gigabit ports/5ghz wifi however.

Got it sorted thanks, went and bought a TP-link wireless N router and got everything connected within a few minutes, all working perfect :D
