If I'm connected to a public wifi network, if I log on to my home PC via a teamviewer connection, or log on to my work PC via Citrix, is that then safe to access things like online banking from those PCs, or not ?
I believe not unless teamviewer is encrypted. If it's a public wifi hotspot that requires no login or password then the data between your laptop and the hotspot isn't encrypted.
If it is a network that requires a password, and is WPA2-PSK, then that is fine ? I guees it is, becuase that is what we all use for our home WiFi networks.
No, as it's a public Wifi connection even if it's WPA2, anyone can connect to the same network as you and then be inside that to pick up your traffic. Having said that if TemaViewer uses encryption it would be ok, as none could see the traffic going through that.
TeamViewer has the ability to create a VPN between two computers, just needs a small additional plugin installing then it appears as an option when you right click the machine in your computers list
