I am running Windows 11 (22631) with a Asus PCE-AC68 internal wifi card (no wifi on mobo). When every my PC goes to sleep i have a maybe 80% chance my Wifi will not reconnect after waking up. The Wifi simply wont connect, or sometimes it connects with a message 'No Internet Availabl' however i suspect the issue is with my PC / Windows not my router which works 100% with all other devices on my network (multiple iphones, Macbooks, and tablets etc). I say 80% as there is a v.slim chance it does in fact establish a connection after sleep and work.. however its seems very unlikely. If i restart my PC entirely the WiFi will connect to my 5ghz band correctly first time.. So its seems to be related to Windows sleep, wake functionality?

If i try and diagnoise the issue and open my Wifi Setting screen (see below) the windows dialog will freeze for about 10-15 seconds and then close by itself, like it has somehow crashed?

If it helps when i did a fresh install of Win 11 about a year ago, it worked fine, however at some point a windows drivers update, or some other software on the PC started to cause this very strange behaviour and its not be resolved since (maybe 6 months). Anyone got any ideas on how to diagnoise the issue or solution? There are no drivers avaialble for my Wifi card from Asus as they use the built in Win 11 driver as i suspected that was the issue.

Afraid I've never had that sort of issue myself, but having a quick search I can see a few similar issues with Asus laptops and kit. Some suggestions seem to suggesting disabling power saving, other suggestions being remove the device and allow windows to reinstall the device/driver.

But this page on Microsoft has one suggestion which sounds most likely the issue:
  • Power saving enabled for the device, causing it to deauth from the BSSID: From the Device Manager, go to the properties of the Wireless Interface and in the Power Management tab, and then clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately i already had that option unchecked.. Not that :( Disabling power saving seems a huge overkill and waste of energy for such a small issue. Not sure what else to try..

Hmm, not sure what else to suggest. Only thing I can think of would be to check your motherboard's BIOS and if there's an update give that a try.

What i have discovered though is it only seems to happen with my 5ghz Connection, if i use 2.4ghz it will reconnect post sleep. So this is now getting odly specific.
Have you checked the 2 bands on the router to see if there is any sittings that 1 has that the other doesn't?
