hi everyone. im in the middle of moving my pc into another room so ive had to stop using my ethernet cable for a while and now using a esynic 300mpbs wireless dongle. while the ethernet cable is connected im getting around 60mbps download and 11 upload. when ive got the wireless dongle in im getting 10mbps download and 10 upload. the router is only in the room above so signal strength is excellent. another strange thing is when i do a speed test on my phone im getting 39mbps and 10 upload. any idea why the pc wireless is much slower?

Probably the WiFi adapter is rubbish?

What WiFi does your phone support? AC or N?

Most likely the phone supports a better standard and your adapter is probably an N version.

Download wifi Analyzer for Android or Airport Utility for Apple (turn on wifi scan in settings first) to check the channels in use. Then change to a better one.

yes it is a dual band one. its a bt home hub. i tried changing the wireless settings not to with 2.4ghz and changed the ssid name but the pc wasnt picking up the 5ghz network. must just be a crap wireless dongle then :S it does say on the website it supports Frequency Range: 2.4-2.4835GHz, 5.150-5.350GHz, 5.725-5.825GHz

one other thing i noticed. on the software i got with the dongle when i try and add a new profile the option to choose the channel to connect to only shows 2412 mhz in all channels

are any slower devices on wifi causing the router wifi speed to lower to accommodate them?
interference maybe is possible , some lights etc can be a pain, is the dongle at the back of the pc? try moving it to the front where there is less to interfere with the signal
more cost but maybe powerline adapters are worth a look

i doubt that its interference. the router is only 3 meters above the pc. i think its just a crap wireless adapter. ill buy a different one to give it a go. thanks
