Hi all,

I will be moving to university soon and unfortunately my flat or room has no wireless connectivity. I am wondering if there are any switches available which also act as wireless access points. I'm sure they exist but I'm having a really hard time finding one.

I keep finding wifi range extenders, that require an existing wifi network to rebroadcast. This is not what I am looking for! :(

Any help/pointers appreciated, many thanks.

You should be alright with any access point or router with access point included as long as you turn off DHCP and leave the routing to whatever controls the network. The only issue may be getting the router/ap to get given an IP by the network and allow the Internet to be bridged to the wireless point. Worth a try though. I don't think any AP can work quite like a switch does as they usually want an ip address.
