Wifi tether - x10 mini pro

I can't seem to get anything to connect to my x10 mini pro (and more specifically my HP touchpad).

I have rooted my phone and have superuser installed. I have tried open garden, wifi tether and barnacle.

The first 2 come up with errors when running them (something to do with nat). Barnacle installs fine.

Open barnacle, press start but cannot click on associate, it's greyed out and nothing picks up the x10.

Has anyone had any success with their x10 mini pro? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not particularly hopeful but does anyone have any ideas?

Try flashing a custom ROM. As you really need Android 2.2 or higher for tethering.

Ok, thanks for that. I'll attempt to install a custom rom.

I'm browsing over at xda developers and [ROM] GinTonic.SE | v2.5.1 looks to be the newest rom.

Problem is, there is no noob install guide. Could you kindly point me in the right direction please? I'll need step by step instructions.

I have no idea for your phone mate, XDA should have a step-by-step guide somewhere...
