Wifi to ethernet adapter?

Situation - wifi on TV is not working, likely a hardware fault. TV has been relegated to the spare room and it was used as an excuse to upgrade to a shiny new OLED TV. Happy days.

However, occasional use of the spare TV means I do want to connect it to the internet for netflix etc. It has an ethernet port which does work but running an ethernet cable to the TV from the router is not possible due to location.

I could use powerline, but also interested in a wifi to ethernet adapter (i.e. connects to my wifi network and provides an ethernet connection that the TV can use). Bit of googling turns up something like this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B093GZL..._dp_FZHESMEH7RNVSV06ZM0A?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

... but the reviews aren't great. Anyone have any other options?

A wireless bridge is what you want and what that device can do. I don’t know about that one but if it really is only going to be used for media streaming off the internet you don’t need huge bandwidth and for <£20 I’ve had great success doing as you wish with a TP-Link WA901N

Unhelpfully they call their bridge mode “client mode” but it’s the same thing and connects a wired device like a TV to an existing wireless network.

If you’ve an old router lying about you may find with some open source firmware, or even natively, it can act as a wireless bridge without you needing to spend anything.

Cheers, will take a look at the TP link device and do some googling around a wireless bridge

Agreed with the suggestion of getting a streaming stick for it. If the TV is a few years old now the apps are likely not getting updates and/or are running really slow. Both the Fire TV and Chromecast have ethernet options.

How have you confirmed this? Did you take the tv apart to check?

It keeps rebooting randomly, somewhere between 20 and 60 mins no matter what I'm doing. When this started the wifi stopped working, so I'm assuming the main board has a hardware fault (it's got the latest firmware etc).

You haven't got an old USB stick plugged in for recording etc, if so remove it and reset the TV, this might sort it.

I use a Zyxel WRE2205 for just this purpose. It plugs into a socket and connects to my network via WiFi, then the TV connects to it via an ethernet cable.

If your TV reboots every hour then isn't there no point at all in trying to get the Wi-Fi working again?
There is when its the place you send the kids to watch netflix and away from the shiny new OLED!
