Something is massively running up my wifi usage at home. Ran up 43gb last month which I think is too excessive considering I don't download anything, don't use torrents and don't use any streaming services. I suspect it might be either cloud backup, one of my apps, or (seems unlikely to me) simply the fact that web pages are way bloated.

Is there an app for iOS that can monitor internet traffic in and out and give me some kind of breakdown of what has downloaded what?

I use an app called DataMan which is designed to keep an eye on your cellular usage but it also shows how much data you've used per billing period via WiFi as well.

Cool, thanks! That gave me something to start looking for as well, so I've got a very similar free one to see if it's what I want. I couldn't tell by the screenshots of DataMan - does it give you an app-by-app breakdown of what has been using the internet?

I've put a monitor on the laptop as well, just to see how much bandwidth is being used on browsing. I noticed on the phone that just a bit of casual browsing while watching telly last night racked up 160Mb. This was nothing more than use of the Facebook app, a quick forum check and two Youtube videos that I didn't watch all the way through. I'm wondering if it is indeed just browsing after causing it after all. Add in a chunk of days working from home, the fact that when someone sends you a photo on an IM or email it's 4mb per image and that the web is just massively bloated...

If this is linked purely to your phone then ignore, if its your home wifi/internet then long shot but do you have a sky box hooked up to your wifi? They burn through data downloading programs for on demand services etc
