Hi

Had wireless in my house for nearly two years now and have always used USB adaptors. The main reason I use such for one of the PC's is that its in a study under a desk and i feel that a PCI card antenna at the back would not pick up the signal (having said that I have never tried this).

I have a problem with my USB one, now for some reason all of a sudden the USB port I used to plug it in with for the past 6 months just refuse to install the device now, however when I plug it into another port it see's the device any ideas?

Also when i plug anything into the USB port such as an ipod or usb stick the wifi usb seems to disconnect and often have to pull it out and put it back in again any ideas on that?

I am seriously considering buying a PCI card if it will solve these problems, this machine is running XP SP2 32bit version.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks

You could try deleting the port in system tools and letting it reinstall the drivers

you less likley to get the disconnection problem if the post is not connected to the same hub.

PCI card may solve the issue, look for ones with larger aerials or posssible an extender. MIne were fine after I removed the steel filing cabinet that blocked the signal. Linksys crds used to come with decent aerials
