Bit of a frustration that someone might have an answer to beyond the standard stuff via google...

My windows 8 PC (media machine attached to the TV in the lounge) has the following network setup:

Ethernet: Wired to the sky router for internet
Wifi: Connected to my Belkin router for internal network (media streaming from the WHS v2 box)

I have the standard windows 8 issue that when the machine comes out of sleep the wifi connection does not reconnect to the wifi network automatically. To be clear - when I click on the network icon I can then select the wifi network and click connect and it works fine - but I have to do that manually every time it wakes up.

I've tried:
Ticked the box that says automatically connect to this network.
Switching off the power saving features on the wifi dongle. (Interestingly my win 7 machine has this feature turned on and has no issues connecting)
Gone into the advanced driver settings and told the USB card not to sleep when idle.

A lot of people are locked out of their wifi cards on wake and have to reset the card before they can use it - I do NOT have this problem - but gave the little powershell script a go anyway - no help

I'm in the process of setting the machine up to live with Kodi running so I can control it via Yatse and hence I would rather not have to mess about with the keyboard every time I wake the machine.

I even had a dig around the Windows USB development blog and found a few bits and bobs about the way USB powersaving is managed that looked promising - but to no avail.

I have now run out of ideas - anyone have any suggestions?
