Released in Japan along with the new black Wii and Monster Hunter 3 Tri~, the Classic Controller Pro is Nintendo's answer to fans' complaints about the original version that launched with the system in 2006. We got our hands on the Pro a little early, so we decided to take some pictures and compare the Pro to some of the other controllers out there.

Does anyone here put any serious time into the classic games bought from the Wii store?

I'd love to use this for all Wii games (Ones which would play fine with a standard controller that is). I could do without any waggle movements. Imagine playing Mario Galaxy/Zelda with this? :)

Eurgh, why imitate the PS2 design?

As said, just use the GameCube controller for compatible games.

It looks nothing like the PS2 controller, the only thing it looks like is the classic snes controller imo. They've added 2 simple grips to make it more comfortable.

I was quite happy with the original classic controller but this looks like a nice addon.

I wont be buying it though unless it works with Gamecube titles.

same stick placement, same button placement, same shoulder button layout, same convex stick design...so quite a bit like it then.

It's a bit like when people look at touch screen phones and say Iphone rip off, it looks nothing like it imo.

their is only so far you can go with designs until it starts to become uncomfortable so then you just go with the easiest.

It wont be long until everyone starts shaping their controllers like the 360 controller, unless Sony are willing to learn they'll stick with that design for the next console.

What the donkey's are you on about? You can see the layout and prongs, yeah? This effectively makes it a PS2 pad, hence the reason for the comparison picture.

The GameCube layout is far superior to this (and the original) for analogue stick use, but for dpad play the original looks much better than this "pro" version.

The Gamecube pad is far superior, but I'll be damned if I'm shelling out £40 for a wavebird, cant play with wired controllers anymore as I like to sit back and relax.

What I'm trying to say is simple designs are taken, patented and anyone who does it similar gets crowned as being a copycat. which is what will always happen.

I'm just really stubborn when people try to compare things, as I love to argue ;D
