Wii classic controller questions

Afternoon,

Can the classic controller be used on standard wii games? Also do you have to have one for the VC games, I have read mixed reports and would like to download Mario 64.

I have a couple of GC controllers by the way in case you can use them.

Slightly off topic but anyone know why the list of SNES games available in Europe is so pants? Giev Street Fighter 2.

because we've only had the wii for a week?

Yeah but it was like that before the Wii was released in the USA. Why must everything be region-locked?
