Wii: Component to VGA solution

No, the receiving input specifically has to be able to receive component through VGA, it's not a standard feature.

No as in XPE's "loss of quality" or No as in my "practical solution"?

From how I understand it:
No, as though component and VGA share a similar cabling system, they are not directly compatible, so you can't just connect a component cable to a component => VGA into a monitor and get it to work. The cable linked above is really suited for those people that do not have a direct component connection on their TVs like mine. My component connection on the TV is through the VGA connection, so I am connecting my 360 via component to the VGA, but the TV is reading it as YPbPr.

I'm pretty sure you need a component to VGA adapter box thingy of some sort that will convert a component signal into VGA so a normal monitor will understand it. How good these ones are that I've seen in terms of quality, I don't know.

Get ya!! Cheers. Just trying to save a few bob. Have seen those adapters for about £40-£50 which I'll probably have to buy but was wondering if the cable did the trick, which it seems it won't.

O well, not to worry, so long as I can Wii on my monitor, I'll be happy.

Was there not mention of a VGA cable for the Japanese release ? So a VGA cable may be available for the Wii on release here anyway.

I doubt it to be honest, but we'll have to wait and see.

Nintendo said they'd support VGA, but no news on a cable. The cable on the Japan site is for the Japanese D-Type TV cable which isn't VGA.

I need this info before I decide which 24" monitor to buy!

Again, don't know if it's a competitor, but EBGames in America have a Madcatz VGA cable listed, but no release date yet, so I imagine third party support will be available perhaps just before or after the US launch.
