Is there anyway to turn off the Wii completely, or can you only put it in standby? Also, is it normal for the power pack to be so noisy? Just worries me a bit when I have the TV off and I can hear the power pack buzzing away :(

My power pack doesn't buzz in standby or when the Wii is on so check your cables are all nice and snugly plugged in.

If you don't want the Wii in 24/7 mode(orange power light) hold the power button for a few seconds longer to turn it off, the light will go red instead of orange. :)
Any further than that you just have to switch off at the wall.

No, it is red. Just I can hear the power pack buzzing away. It's not stupidly loud, but I can hear it if the TV is off. It's slightly louder than the 360 power pack when the 360 is switched on. Hmmm maybe I should take it back and get a replacement?

Mine doesn't buzz so probably worth taking it back rather than risk any potential safety issues. I just turn it off at the plug socket every night.
