A few more accesories were announced today and it has been confirmed that (in Japan at least) there will be an official DVI cable as well as component, s-video and composite. Woo! :D

Looking at Japanese prices, they appear to be a little bit more than the nunchuck, so could be as much as £20 over here :(

Still good news all round!

EDIT: My bad, appears not to be DVI or VGA. Still an interesting read though and shows that Nintendo are commited to bringing all the different types of connections, and good to see that the LAN adaptor shouldn't be too much.

The Wii LAN Adapter will come in hand seeing as how my USB Wifi stick has just broken :(

It looks more vga rather than DVI, or am I getting my connector confused

A D cable is the same as DVI then is it?

Best options for me will be RGB scart if I use it on the downstairs TV, or component as I am already using the VGA port for the 360 on my LCD TV.

From the looks of it, its VGA. They refer to it as D-cable, aka what everyone else calls D-SUB, which is a range of connectors in that style, including VGA :D

Nice to see component in there as well.

Gonna have to bite the bullet and get a switching box though, as my PC is hooked up to VGA and the 360 to component.

Smart arse :p

Hehe, well whatever it is (VGA or DVI), its certainly good news. There'd been no official comment by Nintendo for a long time and many feared that VGA had been abandoned.

Its great for me, as i'll have it connected to the big TV downstairs most of the time, but ocassionaly I'll want to bring it to my room for a Long Zelda Session on my 20" Widescreen when some of the girls want to watch X-Factor or whatever other rubbish is on TV nowadays.

The japanese D-terminal is not the same as VGA or DVI guys it was a standard that only japan used for HDTV ans so it will not work anywhere else unless you have a japanese TV.

These cables can be converted to VGA easily though as long as your monitor will sync the signal ( I did it for a few NTSC cubes)

Not any more :(

Didn't know that :D

As long as it has Component then I'm happy :D (only input remaining free on my monitor :p)

Though I'm not definatly decided on getting one.. have yet to test one myself ;)

That's very good news :)

Interesting that Nintendo have kind of done a backwards route to networking, giving you wireless as standard, but making you pay for having a normal ethernet port extra. Still, it'll only be around £15 to do that anyway.

I have had no problems with the cube ones I have done in the past when running them on crt screens (only works with progressive scan though) but I have had a few issues with lcd.

The cube cables were fantastice as they had good digital to analogue converters built into the cable itself. I am not sure on the Wii cables but as soon as I get one I will pull it apart and see what I can come up with.

It might be easier to find a xrgb3 which takes componant, rgb scart and d-terminal and turns them into vga with a few upscaling options (its great quality as well so if you have retro consoles it is priceless and the only way I can play my saturn on my lcd tv)

Good find! Nice to hear that they haven't forgotton those additional AV cables that were promised.

The site mentions to stay tuned for the US lineup, so maybe they'll have the VGA connections in their release list. Even better if there's a EU lineup too.

Ive just read all this thread and im still confused? (it doesnt take much) is this cable a VGA cable thingy? or DVI? im just thinking of how i can fit this to my samsung lcd!?!?

Neither. It's a dedicated connection to Japanese TV's according to jimmyjimmyo and seeing as he's used more bigger words than anyone else, I'll take him as someone who knows what he's talking about.

Ahhhhhh right ok then!
So does S-Video have a good picture? i think i might have to have my wii running through this? or through AV Cable? as my 360 is using component?

Considering the wireless adapter for the 360 costs £60 that's very good value compared to the total cost of the Wii

You can buy a wireless bridge for £30 though so no one actually buys the inferior £60 offical one. It's a joke though, nay a complete embarassment that the wii a next gen console doesn't even have ethernet lan built in.

Did you consider it's to keep the consoles cost and size down? Not to mention the fact most living rooms and bedrooms don't have ethernet.
