My mate's currently in Dubai and I was thinking of getting him to bring back a Wii as my brother wants one for crimbo.

It seems dubai uses 220-240v and PAL, so that should be OK, but I'm also aware that the Wii is region locked. Does anyone know what region Dubai (or UAE) would be with regard to games? They're region 2 for DVD's, but this doesn't always follow through to games consoles.

I'd probably just get one from here then, to be sure you had a warranty thats valid in this country apart from anything else.

Yeah, the thing is that they're only available in large bundles over here atm, and this is unlikely to change until after crimbo.

If you want a Wii on it's own it's going to cost you over £250.

Having done a bit more research, it seems that the Wii's never actually been officially released in the middle east, and distribution there is all handled by Nintendo Europe, so it's most likely to be a Euro Wii anyway.

Mine cost me £290 in a bundle.

It came with Mario Party 8, Mario at the Olympics and Raymonds Rabbids 2. They are all games I would have possibly bought anyways, but seeing as all the games are in boxes in wrappers I don't see much stopping me selling them on for £30 each

so there's £90 back and I've paid £200 for a Wii which has a UK warranty.

Buying one from abroad is all well and good, but how gutting would it be if it went **** up in a couple of months time and you can't do anything about it.

Edit, infact the games total value comes to £114.97 which means my Wii cost £175.02 so if I decided to take my games back to the shop (unopened) and say they were bought as gifts so I don't have the reciepts I could probably get better games or get £114.97 worth of Accessories instead.

That sounds pretty good. £290 wouldn't be so bad, especially if there were one or two games I wanted myself.
