An offshore e-commerce site is showing preorders for Wii games.

I doubt the information is correct but:

Release date: 25/12/2006?
Price:£49.99?

As mentioned, I doubt the information is correct as the release date cannot be correct... but the PRICE

Im aware it is just speculation on behalf of the retailer but thought was worth discussing as what if that IS the price of games on release. I WANTED a Wii.. but WILL NOT buy if the games are that price, regardless how good the controller is.

POINT OF NOTE:

Wii Sports is a seperate title so that either means 2 SKU's of the Wii (1 with game, additional controllers etc) and a basic pack or there is just ONE SKU with no game and MAYBE ONE controller?

why wont you buy it if the games are that price?! all current gen new releases are that price, AND the consoles are at least £100 (i think) more expensive

also, that release date could be correct, because it's a monday

the wii games don't exactly utilise current gen graphics etc that we are used to from the 360 though. I personally wouldn't fork out £50 for a game that looks like it was made in 2001.

I saw this a week or so ago on the site in question.

It think it's safe to assume that dates/prices are just dummy values, but there just so they can take start to take preorders. They can;t put exact dates or prices as neither have yet been announced by Nintendo.

An Xmas day release date?

you never know...it could be automatically generated to do with week numbers. Not saying it is right, just saying it could be.

so, that's the only reason you buy games, because of their graphics? last time i checked, some pretty advanced technology was going into these games. they'll still probably cost a fair whack to make. graphics aren't everything, contrary to popular belief

graphics are a big part of what I like in games, especially when something is graphically innovative and gives off that "woah" factor like the fight night round 3 graphics (didn't buy it though).

I also hate it when games have 'slow down' in places when they've been pushed too far as well though, such as Tomb Raider Legends demo when the water is in view.

well, that's your personal preference...but people won't be buying a Wii for it's graphical prowess...just the same as people didn't buy DSs over PSPs because of their graphical prowess. Nintendo are all about playability/longevity rather than graphical superiority, and from the innovation of the controller, it doesnt look like they're set to stop being like that. this isn't to say that the graphics are going to be bad.

i personally prefer less realism when i play video games...for me it's about escaping reality, not transforming it. again, it's all about preference, that's why we have choice.

They're just playing safe. If they put the prices at 39.99 or 29.99 and the games turn out to be 49.99 they'll probably have to honour the original price (because they're good like that - unlike another place I recently had an order cancelled from because of their mistake ).

Who know's how much the games for the Wii will be, not I, not that website either. Fret not. ;)

a) the games dont look like they were made in 2001. because the graphics are actually quite good
b)the games wont be 50 quid on the net tho will they
c)the gamecube was released in 2003 and if the fact that it is more powerful than the gamecube but inly has to do 480p means anything then i see no reason why really speaking the wii cant compete with the 360 at 480p
