Are they any good turn based / war strategy games for the wii ?

Looking for something similar to the likes of Civ or settlers etc. I know these are generally PC type games but anything similar ?

thanks

Civ Revolution is out on the Wii. Haven't played it however.. Also you should checkout Battalion Wars 2. I have it, quite entertaining.

Is civ really out, i thought they had shelved it ? I cant seem to find it in any games shops ? and google is not my friend today!

thanks

Wasn't Civ revol canned? Seemed like an odd decision given that it's the only console with controls that might suit it!

Fire Emblem-Radiant Dawn is all I can think of that is similar to what you are after.

There's no console version of Advance Wars (Battalion Wars is similar, but real-time action, rather than turn-based strategy), so I'd guess that Fire Emblem is your best bet too. There's one for the Wii (Radiant Dawn), and also a prequel for the Gamcube (Path of Radiance), which I would recommend if you have a Gamecube pad to play it with. I love the Fire Emblem series, and whilst RD is good, PoR is one of the best of the lot.

They're strategy RPGs, on a grid-based system, where the most important thing to remember is that, if one of your characters dies, that's it, they're gone. No resurrection. Utter pain in the behind when you first get used to it, but after a while it becomes part of the challenge.

Ok thanks,

I'll take a look at some Battalion War reviews and game footage on the tube before making a purchace. Bit dissappointed really I know the wii is not aimed for these type of games and its more family/fun multiplayer but there seems to be abig hole missing for games that are not that high on graphics etc and as someone said the motion controllers would really suit them.

A couple of wild card ideas.

Anno dawn of discovery (poss different name in the uk?) which is more city building/settling type stuff i think but aparently quite good.

And Little King's story which is a sort of hybrid of a few genres including strat, city building and rpg's.
