Hi all,

Have only just bought a Wii ... and what a fun piece of hardware it is. Have to say Wii sports is great fun. The tennis especially!!

So would like to buy an extra remote/nunchuck and also a couple of extra games. Think i will get Res Evil tomorrow, although am at a total loss as to what other games to get. Any suggestions? Are the car games any good? Is there a 3rd person shooter that is any good? Don't suppose there is a time crisis 'esque game? Zelda looks quite good, or is it? Total noob with console tbh; would like something that really shows of this console as I have a couple of mates coming round on saturday to have a bash.

Recommendations would be welcomed.

I've had a wii since release and the bundled sports games get more use than Zelda, Red Steel or Rayman Raving Rabbids or Happy Feet.

My personal opinion is that the Wii is good for non conventional games where you utilise the wiimote or for kids games but if you want some First person shooter type gaming then get a 360. The 360 is not much more expensive than the Wii now (£220 for a premium).

The only Wii game that I am currently considering for myself is Tiger Woods Golf which apparently is a tad disappointing or the new golf game whose name escapes me.

To add,

... any recommendations on two player games where you can both play at the same time? Co-op type games would be good.

Anyone else got any recommendations?
What sort of age group and genre?

Well I am 31 so will leave that to your interpretation! ha ha!

I really like the Tennis on Wii Sports. Was thinking of SSX Blur (I think its called that), perhaps Mario Strikers? Just not sure really. Would really like a game which is a bit of a shoot em up.

i have had my wii a week now , and loving it makes a change from PC gamming wii sports, zelda and sonic for my son so far all good fun

I've had mine since xmas and to date have spent most of my time on zelda and VC games like donkey kong and ghouls and ghosts.

Got mortal kombat for father's day and enjoying this, would imagine its fun with two people waving their arms about! (edit - its also cheap at a certain green supermarket)

The kids enjoy warioware buts its single player at a time type of game.

Hmm got kids? My daughter doesn't seem overly enthused with happy feet or rayman. She loves the bowling and tennis.

You could try red steel but it is single player. My brother and I quite liked it but found the sword fighting bore little relation to how you swung the wiimote.

For shoot em up games I really think the 360 outdoes the wii so I have not bought any FPS for it.

I'm 23 and for multiplayer stuff I've found tennis is pretty much the most popular. Rayman Raving Rabbids goes down well, handy when I get my musical friends to do the rythm games for me.

Mario strikers is excellent but you're going to have to get more nunchuks for multi player on this. My Counter Strike playing mate who can be a bit of a game snob took the **** out of this at first but the 3 of us started working through the cup and he got the idea.

SSX is fun but only 2 players so a bit boring for a group of people, enjoy it on my own though.

No swearing

If you're thinking of Pangya then I wouldn't bother. I bought it myself and it's going to be sold as soon as I get round to it. I thought it was going to be an Everybody's Golf/Ace Golf type of game but it's nowhere near as good. I've also owned Tiger Woods for the Wii and whilst it's nothing special it's certainly better than Pangya.

Resident Evil is out on Friday, that could impress your friends as it looks good and the reviews I've read have been promising.

As already mentioned, I think your best bet is to get Mario Strikers.

Not everyone likes Rayman, but my son and I do... I think because we've both got a very wacky sense of humour, so things like cow tossing or the penalty shoot out appeal to us.

Excite Truck is fun, and you can do 2 player too... but if they're into things like Motorsport (or whatever it's called on the PS3) then they might not be impressed by it.

Zelda is a great game, but it's a single-player game, not one to impress your mates with.

Been a bit disappointed by Monkey Ball.... it's not as good as the GCN version, so I'd give that a miss if I was you.

There are 2 on rails shooters coming that I know of (timecrisis style) one is a Resi evil spin off and the other is called ghost squad I beilive that started as an arcade game. Im actually glad to see these types of game appear for Wii, Wii plays own shooting game is ace.

Also for other shooters we have The Godfather which is great and much better than it would be with a normal controller. Coming shortly we get scarface, Driver, Resi evil 4 and others.
I think it handles shooters very well, tbh developers threw a lot of quick **** out to see if the platform would sell and so some of the early titles like Red Steel, COD3 and farcry didnt impress. Things are getting much much better now that Wii is market leader. :)
