Wii Golden Eye - Very very hard to control?

I seem to find the controls on Golden Eye very very hard on the Wii? It seems painfully hard to aim quickly and accurately with the controller (default) method. Not only is the aiming just hard in itself, all too often you find you've accidentally pointed off the screen, and then all manner of pain commences as you try to relocated your pointer onto the screen and recover your direction of view too!

Anyone else find this?

Is there a better alternative?

Am I just too used to playing with a keyboard and mouse where you can move/aim in a fraction of a second?

If I remember correctly the default controls for goldeneye were awful, I think I used preset control setting 3 for the best results.

Don't believe I had much trouble with the controls. All console FPS suffer from the inability to turn quickly but I found that the Wii Remote the best of a bad much for FPS style games.

I think it's the fact moving the pointer on the screen both changes the cross-hairs position on the screen AND can rotate you too. Both myself and my son were constantly just unable to easily/quickly target anything. Seemed a bit daft...

I'll try again, or see if (as the other poster suggested) there's other options.

Nope... All that seems to do is change the sensitivity/speed of the scrolling and not offer alternative control styles :(

I actually find my right wrist aching withing a couple of minutes of playing too!

Did you guys have the gun adapter for the wii remote?

I've not got this game, but I've found all the Wii FPS games to be pretty decent - MoH and Metroid 3 in particular were excellent as you can change the bounding box (the point at which you turn as opposed to aim).

KillZone 3 on the PS3 is the only game I've found that comes close, control wise.

No option to manually adjust the bounding box?

I'll have a look.

OK! The aiming mechanics/system of this are so bad I can't play it. I give up...

I've played first person shooters for over 20 years, and this has to be, hands down, the worse control system ever. There will be some in front of you, and the system makes it an utter pain/nightmare to try and get a shot on target.

To summarise - Can't see why the developers concocted such a unfriendly targetting system! I think I'd prefer to use two analog sticks, and that's bad enough in itself!

The control method is absolutely terrible, It's the worst of everything. I stopped playing the game due to the controls. A shame.. You have your turn control, and you aim control, and these are separate, which makes it suck ass. Or you can use a classic controller and play with thumbsticks. lol. I'd rather stab my eye with rusty nails than play fps with a joypad. n00bs. Mouse and keyboard bluetooth hookup, should have already been done before some idiot came up with the painful wiimote control

change the bounding box (the point at which you turn as opposed to aim).

The fact that this is an option to be changed shows how broken it is. It means that you can't turn and aim at the same time. I mean wtf. It's like these radio cars that go forward, or back+reverse. Give the game some proper controls.

use the wii classic controller pro

The special edition was packaged with a Gold classic controller Pro like the one pictured above. I'd assume it works best with those.

I could not use the wii-mote to play this. Used the controller detailed above and thought the controls were spot on - the pop and shoot mechanic is very good imo.

Played it non-stop until I came to the tank level (why oh why do devs think these are a good idea?) had three attempts to get past it and could not so have shelved it. It might be a really easy level to get past once you know how - I just cannot be bothered.
