Wii: Graphics quality and FPS....

power wise its just about on par with the original xbox so you can expect miracles in graphics.

any wii/GC/ps2 owner who doesn't buy RE4 should be executed for crimes against gaming.

Just because you ain't seen them in those games Don't mean it can't do it. Give them time, to fully exploit the hardware.

You've missed the point of what I said. I said that those games demonstrated that the Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube, clearly so.

The GC was about on par with the XBox, based on resi 4, zelda, metroid prime, rogue squadron, no?

purely from a very quick look at wiki etc-

xbox-

733mhz mobile celeron
64 MB DDR SDRAM at 200 MHz
dedicated gpu (kind of a geforce 3.5 ~ish)

wii-

729mhx power pc
* 88 MiB main memory (24 MiB "internal" 1T-SRAM integrated into graphics package, 64 MiB "external" GDDR3 SDRAM)[46]
* 3 MiB embedded GPU texture memory and framebuffer.

gamecube-

485mhz power pc
43 MiB total non-unified RAM
tiny gpu*

*
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamecube#Hardware_specifications

i dont have the time at the moment to decipher that gpu's arent my thing.

edit- if spec numbers are your sole concern its easy to see why the wii isnt called next gen by some when compared to the numbers put out by the xbox 360's tri-core 3.2ghz cpu and the ps3's 7x3.2 ghz cell-mcthingy.

Specs mean very little though. A 2Ghz A64 athlon processor ind comparable to a 3Ghz P4 for example.

That's why I used the game graphics comparison. Comparing the games I listed against forza 1, ninja gaiden, halo 2 etc. The GC and XBox seems pretty close to me.

The 360 is a full triple core 3.2GHz Power PC, but it's best not to compare the PS3 as a 7x3.2GHz mcthingy in comparison :)

The Cell is not a standard archetecture. The Cell CPU consists of one full PowerPC core, and eight SPE's (seven enabled in the PS3, and one of them reserved for the OS at all times). The SPE's are not full processor cores like PowerPC or x86 chips, but are rather more just Digital Signal Processor cores, really geared for number crunching only.

Best not to base too much on Red Steel - a first gen game that also happens to be an absolute turd!

Let's see what Metroid Prime brings.

iam not denying that mate but its a blurry line at times.

i bought a GC solely for RE4, its the only game i have for it.
All I was saying is that based on the games the XBox and GameCube were very close graphically so it stands to reason that the Wii will provide a nice step above XBox games when the developers stop using the GC devkits as a basis for quickly knocking out wii games.

Metroid prime 3 will be another classic, all metroid titles since NES have been succesfull in my books.

Look at Xbox titles for what the graphics could resemble.
Or not, considering Res4 on GC matched any title on the Xbox1 for graphics.

Definitely get Resident Evil 4, it's the best action game currently out.
Fixed for you. ;)

It looked awesome, not quite that good though.
There wasnt a game last generation thats far better looking. Most need side by side detailed comparisons to spot the difference.

I agree, the difference was minimal, it's a credit to the GC really.
