Hi guys so after the Wii gathering dust for the last 4 months i was looking at it in sorrow and thought of a question i always wanted answered! Why does the official Wii hd cable not do a thing for the image quality (yes i have set it in system settings bit)? I see all these video reviews on Gamespot, IGN etc of them playing and it looks so smooth! Not a single jaggy to be seen but on my tv (Samsung 26") every game looks absolutely terrible and ridden with jagged edges?!

Any one else find this?

:)

No, I've got the Official Wii Component cable on Samsung LE32R74BDX and I must say it is a vast improvement over the standard RGB cable supplied with the console. By the way, the component cable isn't HD (maximum output on console is 480p and that is not HD;))

Whappers.

Don't be pedantic, im sure he was talking about the composite lead :P

Yeah but when theres a specific RGB Scart which offers dramatic improvement over the composite picture then its hardly in the realms of pedantic. The ends are clearly Red, white and yellow anyway. Why would you even think of using RGB to name it

How do people find aRGB scart on LCD/plasma's?

On my CRT its remarkably better.

Component looks great for me.. Make sure you test it with True 480P Widescreen titles..

So far only Mario Galaxy and Metroid 3 i think are (ie 852x480 full screen, not 640x480 stretched to 16:9)

a lot of 3rd party titles and earlier wii titles.. IE Zelda are the later.

I think its subjective. Compared to the PS3 or the 360, component on the wii dosent look great. Compared to the av cable that comes with it on a hdtv, it looks smashing.

I find that playing the wii on my daughters 14" portable with the av cable looks better than it does on my 40" tv on the living room.

That said, Mario Galaxy looks great on the big tv.

Sorry to drag this up, but need to know something..

Is it worth getting the Wii component cable? I ask because it's my last chance to purchase before the big day (Crimbo).

Running it on a 46" Bravia, and want the best image possible.

I suspect it's worth it, but haven't found any comparison shots

The only reason I can think that the picture might not look great is the TV itself. Some TV's are better at displaying some types of input, as their scaler doesa better job with some signal types than others.

You have a 46" bravia and you are debating over the purchase of a £13 cable? :p

The wii will not look great on your tv compared to a ps3 or a 360 if you are used to sharp images, but it will improve it and games that truly support it actually do look half decent on a big set.

got a sony 46" x3000 and mario galaxys looks great over component with the settings from av forums

Looking great is subjective mpy32. Put a 19" LCD screen running the same thing as you are on your 46" X3000 and it will look better on his than it does on yours.

Ive said it before and ill say it again, the wii does look best on a 14" portable tv.
