wii -> hdtv

Yo Kreeee, got Super Smash Bros. Brawl now! Woo! So no need to tell me to get it anymore! I'm AmmoCity on halo ;)

OT, get a component cable when playing on the HD TV, it'll look better but will never look as good as a CRT.

Josh

I got Smash Bros. Brawl too. :D

To be honest I think Smash Bros looks superb! Bit jaggy on the characters at times but I was very impressed with the visuals.

Online is pretty good but sometimes I get a 'Communication Error' which locks my Wii up. :(

Interestingly enough it looks cack on my dads 50" Kuro through component, because at the end of the day you are still stretching a 640 x 480 image to fill 50".

In comparison to my previous LCD's the Kuro's 480P output is leaps and bounds better and very very close to my CRT, Yea its 640x480 but at least its not getting butchered due to scaling / interpolation issues.

A 360 is a XBox with a faster processor, how is that more next gen? =/

Where did you pull that one from? it's a completely different architecture, built from the ground up whereas the Wii is a higher clocked, with slightly better graphics, gamecube.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!

Jesus mate...it's an oversimplification to make a point, not a literal statement

A Kuro is a Plasma (I'm sure you know that somehow!) so it will be close to a CRT, plus everyone knows lower res content excels on Plasmas.

Gay. Add me when you fix it and I agree, it's a very pretty game indeed.

How are you playing online as free for all doesn't work on European IP's? Where did you find people to fight?

lol yes I know its a plasma ..No LCD can display the kind of black levels these Kuro's produce (In fact, not even close) anyhow yea thats a good point tho.. Im new to Plasma but the general agreement seems to be they handle lower res content very well.

It works fine just cuts out and says communication error every now and then, not sure what the fix would be. :o

I was just using random Basic Brawl online, works fine. :p

More polygons is a **** poor definition for next gen gaming. Next gen should change the way games are played. XBox did it with an amazing online service, the PS1 did it with 3D, Dreamcast did it with its 4 ports, early online play and VMU downloadable content, the Wii does it.

Next generation would be loosely defined as a step up, or a step forward in power, capability etc etc.
The Wii is if anything, a step sideways.

I play my Wii quite a bit, but i also play my PS3 X-box and PC lots as well.
When i look at what multi format games to buy, i don't even look on the Wii stand, as they will be terrible (bar Resident evil 4).
The control system isnt enough to warrant the title "next gen".

The "next generation" as applied to the Xbox 360 and PS3 very much applies to very powerfull machines that integrate with your PC and HDTV and enable the sharing of digital content and the ability to play high definition content.

The Wii has some wavy controlls.
Woot.

I am getting a Wii today for a 50". Will it look alrite if i buy the £10 game store branded component cable?

Thanks

the wii isnt really the console to admire the graphics on. game however are perfectly fine, just obviously dont expect the eye candy you'd get on the ps3 or 360. blown up on a big screen, wii games can look a little mushy and aliased but the component cables does help a little.
