I bought a Wii around release time and sold it after having it for about 3 months being thoroughly underwhelmed with it. I found the games that were out were really gimicky and uninvolved and couldn't hold my attention.

The PS3, 360 and PC kept my interest in gaming held nicely with games like Skate, COD4 etc. However, the wii is on offer at a rather bargain price at the moment so I was thinking of snapping one up.

Have the games improved now or are they still really childish?

There are 2 games, house of the dead and I forgot the other name but it's stylistic and brutal. I wouldn't warrant a purchase on those two though I think.

Im concerned the same will happen- the novelty of waving a stick around to pop balloons thrown at you by a mouse on a unicycle with a moustache will wear off quickly again.

Not really, my Dad got my mum a Wii for xmas so I've been looking at games, really enjoyed Zack and Wiki and there's perhaps 3 others that I'm looking at....but that's it. Disgraceful for how long the console has been out.

Nintendo seems to have stopped developing games years ago so all that's left on the Wii are the third party dregs. Avoid.

House of the Dead Overkill
Disaster Day of Crisis
Madworld
Mario Kart/Galaxy/Paper
Resident Evil 4
Pikmin
Zelda
Punchout
Smash Bros Brawl
The Conduit (Out soon)
Metroid
Motion + (Out soon)
Tenchu
Broken Sword
No More Heroes
Mushroom Men

I think that warrants the purchase of a console, not the mention some I've missed out

I gave my Wii away to my younger cousin at christmas. Only thing I played on it was guitar hero.

MADWORLD that's it.

I'm really sorry to disagree with you Sinny, you are a person i typically agree with. With that said, i have to point out, those are the only games worth playing released over several years for the Wii. The PS3; a console criticised for having a small library of games for the majority of its existence has a list multiple times that length.

The Wii is a shambles, a very well marketed, very profitable shambles, but a shambles none the less imo. Such a shame, it started so well :(

The only thing I am looking forward to on the Wii, and if it comes out here, is the exclusive Monster Hunter 3.

If the online play works very well for this, then I could pray more developers, or Capcom themselves put it to more use like that. Or maybe even Sega coming back with a Wii-exclusive Phantasy Star Online-style game.

I agree, But I generally only buy Nintendo's consoles for Zelda and Mario anyway, They're probably the only platformers of recent gen I absolutely love!

Anything else is a bonus for me, saying that I've always been a nintendo fanboy, never had anything but Nintendo up until my PSP.

If you've never owned a Wii before and you love Zelda and Mario, that is justification enough to get it, then the rest of the games.

I dont really think people even give it a chance, they get used to Wii Sports and then find all the shovelware thats available.

*fanboy mode* The Wii has more games going for it than the PS3 ;D, thats my own personal opinion though.*fanboy mode off*

:p

There are some awesome old games for the Wii, but what are Nintendo doing? They haven't released a great core game in ages!

I'm actually very tempted to sell my Wii - I was on a gap year for 9 months, and since I've got back my 360 is getting all the love. I've played Zelda twice, and Mario Galaxy once, and I got bored of Smash Bros fairly quickly. I heard there's another Zelda in the pipeline, which is literally the only thing stopping me from selling it - I just think it's retarded that 1 game that may/may not come out is preventing me from gaining some much-needed moolah.

We'll see.

The Virtual Console on the Wii looks quite good. Bomberman :D, Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 2 and Super Mario 3 (+ more). Only modern games that hve my attention though are House of the Dead and Wii Sports tbh. (My brothers both have Wiis I don't, didn't see enough point personally)

That's the problem with the Wii other than multiplayer nights on Wii sports and Mario Kart the console really doesn't have a lot else going for it, the G/F has even got bored with Wii Fit these days.

I'm looking forward to Wii Sports resort with the Wii Motion but that's really about it.

Indeed. Only game thats come out is Majoras mask on virtual console, mario galaxy aint great and brawls quite good if you're a big party game fan.

the wii is a joke right now. i was a huge fan of nintendo but they have really let me (and i think everyone) down this gen. there is about 2, maybe 3 games that interest me since the wii has been released, thats pretty lackluster if you ask me.

e3 will be the last chance i guess, if no proper first party game gets annouced then its a lost cause. by real i mean not a 'wii - random activity' game
