Wii: Manhunt 2 - Withdrawn

I dont see why people are so bothered about this news, they will appeal the ruling will be overturned. The game will be released go to number one in the charts and rockstar will be rubbing there hands together becuase they have got the best bit of advertising possible.

Nah, I just think the industry needs to be maturer and these games ain't helping. I'm tired of fanboyism(also)

Not wishing to be argumentative or anything, but what do you mean about the fanboyism remarks? The game was due out on all 3 major consoles. What is so fanboyism about the game been banned for all 3? I'm confused

Yet developing a highly twisted, dark game with genuine adult content is it maturing? For years we just get 'generic shooting game' and just accept it.

Why does "adult content" mean violence? Moreover, why does it mean violence in such a reprehensible sense? Why can't it be violence as a force for greater good?

This is essentially a playable version of your favourite horror films - are they also immature?

Frankly, I'm inclined to say yes.

Note the bracket saying also, it was just a general comment about something else which brings the industry down imo. Nothing to do with the game, I know it's multiplat.

not really bohered as I thought the original was a pile of crap. It was proabaly the only game i have ever played and actually thought was too over the top in violence.

I had read that the sequel was more story driven and less sadistic but obviously not. Its stupid games like hese that create the stigma of gaming is all abut killing people and warping peoples perceptions.

I'm wondering whether Jack Thompson (or whoever that American lawyer idiot is) has seen this? I'm betting he's rubbing his hands together thinking, UK has banned it so maybe I can get my way here as well.

I don't know whether it was the type of game, or the frustration that put me off the original. I'm not even sure I completed the first task/level.

He's not allowed to attack anything to do with Take2.

The other nutter might do though an get the same treatment as JT.

The BBFC is a ******* joke (Excuse the swearing, this has just made me sooo angry)

The game was "reviewed" by 3 people..

One of them was 71, the others were in their 50's or there abouts.

HOW THE HECK IS A 71 YEAR OLD IN ANY WAY ABLE TO SAY HOW A FORM OF ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT HE HAS NO UNDERSTANDING OF EFFECT TODAYS OVER 18's?

YES, OVER 18's.

IF ANYONE UNDER THAT AGE PLAYS IT, SUE THE PARENTS OR THE SHOPS, ITS NOT THE DEVELOPERS.

SO MUCH FOR LIVING IN A DEMOCORACY.

APPARENTLY VIDEO GAMES ARE NOT BANNED IN AMERICA, THEY SIMPLY GET AN R RATING.. SOME SHOPS DONT SELL R RATED STUFF, BUT IT CAN STILL BE BOUGHT.

Sorry for shouting :(

OH WELL

IMPORT FOR THE WIN - WOO HOO

sounds like you certainly shouldn't be playing games like this, or eating anything with 'E' numbers.

Regardless of what an individual thinks of the content in this game it should never be banned, we are old enough to decide what is and isn't acceptable to us and to restrict those that are under age from consuming such an item. Sell the damn thing behind the counter, put a blanket ban on advertising it until well after the watershed but dont outright ban the material itself.

There are far worse things in the world than me using the Wii mote to pretend im pulling someones knackers off. This witch hunt been building against rockstar for some years now I would say.

P.S. I will post some screenies for you all when I get it.

Rumor: Wii Freeloader this month?

This particular bit of news concerns PAL gamers, but-- if it's true-- we can all benefit soon enough. A listing has popped up for a Wii Freeloader on an Italian shopping site called YouToo.it. The listing says that it will be released on June 30 for € 24,99 ($33.59), but that the price and release date are subject to change. In addition, that box looks exceptionally mocked-up, so take this whole thing with a grain of salt.

A NeoGAFfer named radioheadrule83 then contacted Datel's technical department to try to get more information. The Datel rep told him that "Its my understanding that there is a product on the way that will work for Wii games as well, yes" but also that "There's no release date as yet". We may yet enter a world in which we can all play games when they're released.

Will be getting that, then importing Manhunt 2 :)

Good! I personally don't want kids playing vile games like this tbh and before people say it's going to have an 18 rating we all know kids can and will either download it or get their hands on a copy somehow.
It's also not the same as a violent movie, this is interactive which in my opinion makes it far more dangerous.

True!

However, there is a way out which would benefit the 'sane', 'sensible' and members/gamers out there that wish to play this game and are adult enough to know it's a game.

The bottom line, which a lot of people will find hard to accept, is that you are (were) purchasing something that is a computer game. A mutated form of a collection of pixels and sound that has taken 20 years to go from PacMan (hunting things in a maze and killing them - heaven forbid!!) to something that essentially had you playing the role of someone fighting to survive. Yes the graphics are more 'advanced' (mature if you wish) yes the sound is enhanced (blood curdling squeels rather than a bip-bap-bop).

But let's be adult over this. You can go to video stores and purchase "Debbie Does Dallas" or "Gangbang in Bangcock". Even those videos covers have yellow stars covering nipples and the like, but the casual observer who has no interest still can't avoid cleavage, thighs and buttocks unless they deliberately look away.

So along comes a game. It's violent (a lot are), it's got sound strong language (a lot do), the nature is somewhat questionable (I still giggle like a school girl when I think about chasing whores with a pink ***** in San Andreas!) and it's got blood (golly gosh!).

So why can't this game be allowed, but ONLY through mail order? It'll NEVER appear on the shelves, so 'kids' won't be able to get it or some questionable game shop sell it. If it's mail order then it can only be purchased by someone with a credit card. Credit card companies can perform an age verification so even a 17 year old wouldn't be able to buy it.

That way the game can still be purchased but only through a controlled environment.

I just don't see the issue with them banning it. Apart from a snuff movie and/or paedophillia, I have a right (or should have) to see anything/play anything on my PC. It's ludicrous.

Oooh now wheres my button that...........

This is an old arguement that played out in cinema alooooong time ago, the BBFC needs to be seen to do something to justify their exsistance that is all.

Although just the other day I thought I should roll everything in the street up into a giant ball and make loads of other stuff stick to it for massive points, first though I had to teach my dog bubble beam so it can kick squirtles ***............

I had no interest in this before it got banned, but I think I'll be importing it now just to see what the fuss is about. Hopefully it will be overturned and released in the UK to save me the hassle of having to import, but I'll be getting hold of it however.

It depends, in germany their laws are very strict and many games have to be changed or don't even get released over there.

Be a shame if the UK had to go that way.

I think the BBFC would say a film like SAW or Hostel is different because you are detached from the violence and mutilation

in this game you are the perpetrator of the violence and torture..they were describing strangling people and sawing somebodys head off with the motion sensing capabilities of the wii controller..to me thats not really a game..its not entertainment..

Bad parenting skills shouldn't be used as a reason to ban a game... otherwise we'll be banning alcohol, cigarettes and pr0n next, as they're easily obtainable by underage little runts.
