Wii memory card for Zelda

So, I've been going through the old Zelda games on my little bro's Gamecube, which he recently took back.

Luckily, I then find that my Wii plays GC games. The joy has however been shortlived since I have no memory card on which to save progress

I didn't even know the Wii needed a memory card... So, what size do I need for saving Zelda progress? I got most of the way through Ocarina of Time saved on his GC card, and I'm not about to do it all again, so I'll jump straight to Windwaker, then get Twilight for the Wii instead of his GC version.

I've seen a 1GB Sandisk card for £6, will this do or do I need more space?

I found the SD slot on the front behind a panel, the GC controllers plug into the top?

I've taken the 2GB Sandisk card from my digi-camera and this fits, but Windwaker won't recognise it, saying "There's no memory card in slot A".

If I go to the Wii system settings, then SD card, it'll show me the properties of the SD card under the Wii menu, but there's another Gamecube menu within the SD menu and this gives options for slot A and slot B, but it says there's nothing inserted.

Any ideas?

Apologies HarryPainful, I see what you mean now! Just noticed the other flap on the top which allows the old GC memory card to be inserted.

I doubt my bro will give me his back since he's now using his GC again, what size GC card do I need for Zelda progress?

Smallest you can find should be fine.IIRC the GC cases used to say on the back roughly how much space a save would take (might have been called blocks/pages/similar).
If you can find an official one, even better, as the cheap ones are a bit....cack.

Not read such great things about the 3rd party cards so I think I'll stick with Nintendo.

Didn't realise you could transfer saved data between them though, cheers for that.

Was trying to post earlier, get ya self the official one I had a 3rd party one that didn't last long. Mate a good place to try is somewhere like gamestation I once got 2 for a quid in there a little while back last year, both official 59 block ones, might be worth a try, Just ask at the counter.
