Simple really, there just isn't enough good games out for it for family use.

Wii Sports gets a bit boring after a while, Tiger Woods has double bogeyed on his golf offering for the enthusiast, and simple ports across are pointless as they look terrible.

Where are all the decent games?

They make an innovative console controller, and dont support it with the right software, something Nintendo have never got wrong.

Was thinking today how fun a crazy golf style game would be, would be a family winner if the graphics are at least half decent and in this millennium.

the godfather is brilliant and really shows how well the controls can be used

Its really a one player game though.

For me the Wii is the families game console, and i'd like more games that appeal for this kind of market.

It seems now Nintendo are going away from the family tag after a successful Wii sports debut.

:(

Nintendo seem a little confused these days, this console should be the party console Wii all play together but what do we have that the whole family can get together and play? I hear the cries of "The Wii took everyone by suprise" but surely Nintendo knew what to make of the controller, to not have Mario Tennis and Mario Golf at release was insanity.

How is it insanity? You need a steady barrage of titles, which admittedly haven't necessarily been there, from launch, not two big franchises all at once when they had Wii Sports anyway. Mario Tennis could have been well implemented in time for this Wimbledon I agree, so I suppose they have missed the boat a little; I wouldn't be overly concerned at the moment though... I've found plenty of titles to keep me going but it's horses for courses, and only Wario Ware has been a party title after Sports.

I imagine, much like the DS, we'll see a slew of titles land and then a good steady flow after that. We've got some corkers on the horizon, family or not.

I've bought Heatseeker and Wii Play out of desperation in the past week or two. Probably going to get Godfather this week. Then a 360 next month(or Ill wait for the elite). Im dying for another top title to come out. Although I realise it takes time. Most of the ports so far have been poor.

A few games I have been looking forward to have been dissappointing or had bad reviews(Farcry, MOH and to a degree Tiger Woods)

That's Nintendo for you. At least lately anyway. All this Nintendo fanboy "zomgoshzzz *** Wii + DSzzz iz *** bezt lal!!" action doesn't really correlate with the amount of decent games on these new consoles. (Not that Sony or Microsoft don't have their share of awful, awful games.)

People enjoy it 'cause it's cheap! And just a little different from the rest.

Sorry for hijacking the thread (wasn't intentional :P)

I'll hold off getting a Wii until some more appealing, decent games come out. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles ***!

¬_¬

EDIT: What is up with all this censoring? Lol, none of those were even bad words! Heh, deterrent for "crap-speak". Finally.

I think we've been here before haven't we Syph :D

Ok maybe insanity is a little strong, I just think that if Mario Tennis and Golf had been with us at launch I would still be playing them happily now and wouldn't even notice the lack of other games. Sports doesn't have the depth to remain interesting for long. These two games would have been perfect intead of Sports. I think that they would have been ok releasing them both at the same time because almost everyone with a Wii would have happily then bought at least 2 full priced games with it and would probably not be bored with it yet (I know that doesn't apply to everyone :) ) Nintendo would have had plenty of breathing space to release their other titles.

I completely agree that we're missing a first-party title to keep us amused, especially if you don't like Excite Truck or Wario Ware. I'm buying games that I suppose I wouldn't have been bothered about as I buy a game every other month or so (and so am quite picky).

Wii Sports should have tided people over for a fair while I think with 3rd party titles, so again I agree we should have had another good first party effort by now... but then I suppose we're getting Mario Strikers on May
25th with 'online'. We'll see!

*hugs Sweetloaf*

All good things to those who wait, but as a Nintendo fan you already knew that

The more I think about it just imagine the stir that it would have caused if they had Mario Golf and Tennis ONLINE from day one. I know the whole dribs and drabs approach that Nintendo have but why the hell not just blow us away at launch for once?

because that would shorten the product life immensly, consoles take so much money to develope that they need them to last as long as possible and if that means spreading games out by an extra week or two here of there they are gonna do it.

It is always gonna come down to the fact that nintendo are there to make money and they are the most successful at it by a long long way so i wouldn't go knocking them to far cause im sure they will have some massive aces up there sleaves.

oh and don't be surprised if nintendo spring some titles on us out of the blue they have been know to do that in the past, they have never really been big of publicity or advertising especially over here

They did, once (Mario 64) lol.

It would have been nice, I don't disagree really with anyhting you've said, but I understand why it's been done the way it's been done. By May we'll all be online knocking goals past one another. I hope! :D

Can't wait for battalion wars, metroid, mario tennis/golf, mario kart with possibilities of online play.

Metroid especially for me. Really, really enjoyed it on the DS, more than I did on the Gamecube. Still haven't completed either of them :(

There are quite a few good games out now. Just stop being a sheep and open your eyes, you'll find them. Go buy kororinpa for a start.

Yes let's not make our own minds up about what is good and what isn't, let's all agree with you.

No thanks, it reminds me of marble madness or monkey ball which I can't stand and it's around £40. Any other fantastic games spring to mind?

Aww... bless, no need to get stroppy. 4 player red Steel on a projector and metal slug, warioware and excite track have all been incredibly popular around uni.
