i just bought a wireless sensor bar, but it only came with the sensor bar, nothing to plug into my wii for it to communicate

Is it possible to connect a wireless sensor bar to the white wii (the first gen)

ive been googling too, and i was hoping i was missing something

i think the sensor bar is faulty , i bought a cheap one on ebay, put new batteries in and switch it on and nothing happens

Did you see this comment?

"Switch the sensor bar on and then point a digital camera with an LCD view screen at it. Can you see the dots at either end of the bar that are not visible with the naked eye?"

Maybe try with your phone and see if they come up?

yep, tried that no dots

You might need to increase the sensitivity in the Wii system settings if your phone camera picks up the LEDs but the Wiimote doesn't.

phone or normal camera does not pick up any leds

the only way i can get to the settings menu is to plug in the original sensor bar

just to see for myself, i plugged in the wired sensor bar and looked through my camera lens, and yes indeed there are led lights that the naked eye can not pick up, and the wireless one doesn't have any

I bought a battery powered wireless sensor bar way back when but haven't really used it - meant having too many damn batteries around the place!

It does just provide a point for the camera in the wiimote to triangulate from so yep doesn't need to talk to the console at all.
