Last time I used it this worked. When I tried it today iPlayer does not seem to run - it loads but only in outline and no images appear. Have the Beeb changed something so that iPlayer doesn't run?

Thanks, Mel

Nintendo had shut down a lot of their Wii online services last year. I guess iPlayer was one of them due to not being updated.

Am really not liking the way these companies are completely shutting down online services for there older systems...

Wasn't long ago sony shut down (stopped) there PSP online stuff

It's funny as there is still a iPlayer "button" on the Wii screen and it loads the BBC iPlayer screen and program titles - but then it just gives "spinning dots"?

It was useful as it had radio and TV progs.

i don't think its shut down, i used it on mine a couple of weeks ago and it was fine. maybe try resetting all your internet settings?

Tried that - deleted iPlayer and re-downloaded (it's still a 2009 version in wii "shop") and deleted internet settings and re-set up. It passes the internet connection test and goes to the iplayer site but just seems to load the outline "frame" and programme name and then just sits there with a spinning circle of dots for each prog.

"I fancy boys" -can you give it a test please- the BBC have just updated iplayer on the iPod Touch and changed it - can you check if it is still working on your wii please? Thanks,

Mel

I will try mine tomorrow but looking around BBC did a update last month and it's stopped on working certain Smart BluRay players and TV's. As they have removed the legacy coding. Maybe the Wii is one of them.

It's still listed as supported there, but in my opinion it's been broken for a lot longer as the last time I tried to use the iPlayer channel on the Wii, every program I tried to play refused to do so.

Thanks - will be most interested in the outcome - I really only occasionally use the wii - and it's back up use as a iPlayer source - particularly for radio as this is not on the TV iPlayer was useful - if it doesn't do this - it's for the CHOP!

This will be a ongoing problem I'm afraid, and not just on consoles. There was an article I read a couple of months ago where certain older model smart tvs wouldn't run certain apps anymore as the app had an update and they no longer supported that model.

If you think about it logically tho it makes sense. No maker of an app can cover every type of device. Nit without getting paid for it at any rate. So why would a company pay for app support if there product isn't selling anymore?

Time to give the Wii the chop, doesn't show up on the Wii Channel to download anymore so looks like it has been discontinued.
